Sleeping is living healthy!
We spend approximately one third of our life with sleeping. Sleep gives us rest and rejuvenation, benefits our mind and body in many ways. While we are sleeping:
-
Our muscles receive an important support in oxygen and nutriments.
-
We are producing 60-70% of the growth hormone necessary for our body. This hormone participates in the cell regeneration, and is responsible for the maintenance of our muscles, tissue and bones.
-
We reinforce our immune defence system thanks to the production of leukocytes and antibodies.
-
We restore our nervous and emotional balance.
Lack of sleep, on the other hand, accelerates aging because the body releases more cortisol and less growth hormones.
Sleep is made up of several cycles - on average 4 to 5 per night - which follow one another until waking up. Each cycle lasts approximately 90 minutes and includes three main phases: falling asleep, slow-deep sleep and paradoxical sleep.
Insomnia in numbers:
Nearly 70% of French people complain of insomnia. It refers to both insufficient sleep duration and non-restorative sleep. Some people sleep little but without harmful effects on their life, in this case we cannot speak of insomnia.
37% of French people regularly suffer from sleep disorders. Insomnia affects 15 to 20% of the population and 9% suffer from a severe form.
We speak of chronic insomnia when the disorders occur more than three times a week, for more than three months.
Causes
- Stress, anxiety, psychological distress in the face of situations that may seem hopeless such as divorce, death, serious illness, loss of a job, financial problems
- Fear and lack of confidence
- Positive life events can also cause insomnia (marriage, new job, moving, back to school, etc.)
- Certain factors linked to lifestyle habits: Poor lifestyle, too little physical activity and poor diet, use of tablets, computers and mobile phones until late in the evening
- The use of certain medications: corticosteroids, beta-blockers
- Insomnia can also find its origin in a disruption of the autonomic nervous system. Many people suffering from insomnia attribute it to a state of overexcitement or nervousness which prevents them from sleeping. However, a clinical examination shows that, on the contrary, most of these people have a “flat” nervous system.
Little natural advices to regain a good night’s sleep:
-
Wake up at the same time every morning and try to avoid sleeping in since the sleep of the following night might be disturbed.
-
Eat healthy and balanced, with a sufficient amount of Vitamin B playing a role in the production of the serotonin, the sleeping hormone: fruits, green vegetables, lettuce, spinach, cress, wholemeal wheat germ, dry fruits. Avoid spicy or greasy meals.
-
Eat light, two hours prior to the desired bed time, preferably carbohydrates like pasta, rice, wholemeal, liver, fish) since they stimulate the serotonin production.
-
Drink water rich on magnesium for its calming and anti-stress effect and reduce or eliminate the consumption of alcohol, nicotine and caffeine.
-
Don't go to bed before feeling sleepy; otherwise this might provoke staying emotionally awake and paralysing the possibility of falling asleep.
-
Do not go to bed until you are sleepy because this state causes emotional arousal which inhibits the passive sleep process
-
A warm bath or an herbal tea with honey before going to bed creates a soothing, calming atmosphere to distress, relax and to prepare body and soul for a good night’s sleep.
-
Physical activity during the day fatigues your body; avoid sports after 6pm since these efforts set the “anti-sleeping” hormones free.

FAQs:
- How many SereniKal capsules can be taken if one has serious problems getting to sleep?
- For how long should one take SereniKal?
How many SereniKal capsules can be taken if one has serious problems getting to sleep?
The recommended dosage is 1 to 2 capsules 30 minutes before going to bed. However, if after three days at this dosage one still has trouble getting asleep, it is possible to increase the dosage to 4 or 5 capsules before bedtime. It is important not to associate with SereniKal taking sleeping pills or other sedatives.
For how long should one take SereniKal?
SereniKal is a adjunct product that helps to sleep when one goes through periods of sleep disturbances. These periods can last one to two weeks. However it is advisable to stop after four or five days to see if it is possible to sleep without taking SereniKal capsules. The goal is to help regain normal sleep, and to allow a restful sleep for a few days so that one feels rested. Because it is well known that when one is exhausted from lack of sleep it may be very difficult to fall asleep, and to sleep well you must be "rested". That said, it is possible to take SereniKal over one to two months.

I wanted to give you a follow-up about SereniKal ... I did not have many results after a week, maybe a mild sensation of relaxation. However, as per your recommendation, I now take a capsule 2 hours before bedtime and another one 1 hour before bedtime. This way is much better for me.I sometimes take it on a trip to avoid the "jet lag" I take 2 capsules at once, 1 hour before going to bed. If I am very nervous, I take one on the plane, I have practically abandoned my sleeping pills, which give me a "lead head" when I wake up. I think there is a period of weaning, when one has been accustomed for several years to sleep only with sleeping pills. You should mention this. and anecdotally, I noticed that it [SereniKal] has the effect of making me remember my dreams what is for me is exceptional.Mrs Bérangère O.
